The $1 a Day Campaign is a strategic initiative of the Alliance of Students Against Poverty (ASAP), which is a global campaign to eradicate extreme poverty worldwide by mobilizing the idealism and talents of today’s students.
With more than one billion people in the world living in extreme poverty or on less than $1/day, ASAP and its student members call upon the fortunate of this world to take action.
With its slogan of “$1/day for those living on less than $1/day”, ASAP is enlisting two million global citizens in the following triple commitment:
Reduce their current consumption by $1/day;
Donate this savings to those living on less than $1/day; and
Sustain this donation ($30/month or $360/year) until 2025.
Practical solutions and interventions are available to help eradicate extreme poverty worldwide. There are many non-profit organizations throughout the world making use of these solutions in their effort to reach and assist millions of the world’s poorest families.
Nevertheless, many families are not being served because many organizations lack the financial and human resources to expand their efforts. Fonkoze, a non-profit organization in Haiti, is one of many institutions that is lacking the necessary resources to expand its reach. Accordingly, ASAP’s $1 a Day Campaign Fund supports Fonkoze and will continue to support it until extreme poverty ends up where it belongs—in our history books.
ASAP is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
